A Place of Peace
The Labyrinth | The Prayer Path
San Geronimo Lodge has a spiritual energy about it which inspires guests to come again and again. Pam and Charles felt that same quality when they first visited the Lodge in July 2007 and were inspired to buy it later that year. Preserving and enhancing the atmosphere of peaceful, spiritual energy remains a priority for the new owners.
San Geronimo Lodge’s purpose is to provide a welcome oasis for the weary traveler on vacation, business or just passing through. The hope is that during the course of each guest’s visit the presence of divine spirit will be felt.
Pam is an ordained Episcopal priest and Charles is a long time student of the Urantia Book. Recent projects include a Labyrinth and a Prayer Path, both intended for focused walking meditation. They are open to the public as well as to lodge guests.
“… we had a wonderful weekend. You both have made this place such a spiritual place. We love it here and feel like we are at home. God Bless you both. Much love.” —Mike and Sherri, Colorado, 9/6/09
The Labyrinth at San Geronimo Lodge was completed in July of 2009. It is 50 feet in diameter with wide, 30-inch gravel paths arranged in 7 circuits around the center. The paths are delineated by 12 tons of river rock. At the center are 7 interesting sitting rocks. When you walk to the center and out again, you will have physically traveled about a quarter mile. Spiritually, depending on your intention and focus, your journey may be much longer, even touching on the infinite. Approached reverently, a labyrinth can be a powerful tool for spiritual insight for people of all faiths.
“What a special home you have in these beautiful mountains. Our family had such a peaceful time. We felt the awesome touches, from the wonderful breakfast to the apricot trees, the walking trails and labyrinth—all so healing. As nurses we savored and captured all the healing graces. God Bless you all and thank you!” —Catherine, Texas 7/30/09
Prayer Path
The Prayer Path is a one-third mile meandering loop around the entire lodge property, beginning and ending near the Labyrinth, with fourteen stations along the way. The path is bordered with river rock and each station has a roman numeral, a bench, shade, a pretty view, and some unique feature such as a writing table, fruit tree, statue, bell or waterfall. Each station has a keyword on which to meditate: Courage, Humility, Faith, Kindness, Discipline, Service, Wisdom, Patience, Compassion, Forgiveness, Generosity, Hope, Gratitude and Peace. Alternatively, the path can be used simply for a pleasant and relaxing walk around the lodge grounds.
For those wishing a deeper meditative experience, leaflets will soon be available for several faith traditions with suggested prayers and meditations to ponder at each of the fourteen stations on the prayer path.
